TIGERS DON'T CHANGE SPOTS
The LTTE has made fresh demands to the Norwegian ambassodor who went to Vanniya to meet the terrorists. Earlier reports, that were not denied said that the ambassador was going to Vanniya to meet Prabhakaran but the former chiref of Red Barna organisation to whom Vanniya is not unfamiliar territory as that particular organisation had been involved with the settlement of Tamil estate workers in those areas where the LTTE terrorists are found now, apparently at the request of the government of Mr. J. R. Jayawardhane has come back to Colombo after meeting Thamilchelvam. The reasons as to why the ambassador could not meet Prabhakaran and whether the former chief was able to meet at least a few of those settled down in Vanniya by the Red Barna organisation could end up only with speculation. However, the hard fact (though not objective) as seen by most of the Sri Lankans, the west and the other parties with interests vested or otherwise, is that the LTTE, meaning Prabhakaran, through Thamilchelvam is now demanding that the government lifts the ban on the LTTE and that the government should declare a ceasefire before the so-called peace talks commense.
The LTTE was never interested in peace and what Prabhakaran wants is a separate state, which is the aspiration of Tamil racism. The LTTE is not a democratic organisation and the decisions are those of Prabhakaran. It is Prabhakaran's word that is translated into English by Anton Balasinghams and Thamilchelvams who cannot think of an independent existence without Prabhakaran. Prabhakaran is the sole theoretician, strategist and the commander of the LTTE. It is this commander who is a political cousin of so many living Tamil racist politicians, a political nephew of Messrs. G. G. Ponnambalam, S. J. V. Chelvanayakam, Naganatha , Amirthalingam and others and a political grand nephew of Messrs. Ponnambalam Ramanathan and Ponnambalam Arunachalam, who insists on a separate state for the so-called Tamil nation. The Tamil nation in Sri Lanka was created by the political grand uncles of Prabhakaran and it is good to see that Ms. Radhika Coomaraswamy has lately realised the folly of creating this monster. Prabhakaran is trying to create a history for the so-called Tamil nation, based on the "history" he learnt from his grand uncles and uncles. All those third rate Marxists and liberals who argued for the right of self determination of the Tamils are also responsible for the present bloodshed by Prabhakaran in the name of an imaginary Tamil nation.
The west, especially the British who created and baptised Tamil racism in this country should at least now help Sri Lanka, which they claim to be a friendly country of theirs, to defeat the LTTE and capture Prabhakaran dead or alive. Prabhakaran is only marking time and all his so-called ceasefires are breath taking periods preparing for a massive onslaught against the armed forces. After the Elephant pass debacle the Armed forces and the Sri Lankan government having obtained arms from mainly non western countries were able to defeat the LTTE on a number of fronts. Prabhakaran was not able to stand up to the armed forces and he had to retreat. Most probably with the connivance of the western countries he adopted the strategy of peace talks. Solheim and others gave the impression that peace is at hand and painted a picture of the peace loving Prabhakaran. As reported in "The Island" it was only recently that Solheim had told a Tamil radio in Canada what a good boy this Velupillai Prabhakaran is. It is quite possible that Prabhakaran during the last few months has got the arms he wanted and is now prepared to launch another attack. The west should take the responsibility for Prabhakaran's murders hereafter as it is quite clear that under the guise of peace talks the Sri Lankan army had not been allowed to go after the LTTE and Prabhakaran during the last few months. In certain places like Madhu church the army has been withdrawn giving the territory to the LTTE, most probably at the insistence not only of the west but the heirarchy of the Catholic Church as well. Instead of making suitable arrangements with the help of the Sri Lankan army and the government for the Sinhala Catholics to go on pilgrimage to Madhu, Bishop Rayappu Joseph and the others have been succesful in getting back the LTTE terorists into the vicinity of the Madhu church. To cover up removal of the army from the Madhu premises and bringing back the LTTE terrorists, the statue of Marada Madhu Matha was taken round the country for the benefit of the Sinhala Catholics.
Though there is no formal announcement of a ceasefire the army is not engaged in major offensives now. The government and the armed forces, if went ahead with the attacks on the LTTE without listening to the west by now Prabhakaran would have been weakened. The Norwegian embassy in Sri Lanka has said, after the new conditions put forward by Prabhakaran, that they would continue with their work to bring peace to the country. What this means is that Norway and the west in general will continue to apply pressure on the Sri Lankan government not to launch any major offensives against the LTTE, until the latter is fully equipped with arms and machinery to attack the armed forces. If the west is genuine, by now, they could have realised that Prabhakaran is not interested in peace and they should help the Sri Lankan government to crush the LTTE. But, they would not do that and instead they would come out with various "peace" proposals to help the LTTE.
It appears that the LTTE had imposed certain conditions even prior to the visit of Mr. Vestborg to Vanniya where the Red Barna organisation under his direction settled Tamil estate workers. Though not specifically mentioned the government has lifted an embargo on certain items to the northern province. These items were said to be helpful to the LTTE and the LTTE has been able to get what they want through Norway the so-called facilitator. Was the Sri Lankan government pressurised by the west to lift this particular embargo?
Mr. Solheim who is very strict on human rights evolution when it comes to Mr. Milosevic is very lineant in the case of the murderer Prabhakaran. This is simply because Mr. Milosevic belonging to the Greek Orthodox civilisation challenged the western Judaic Christian civilisation while he was in power. The so-called war criminals in the eyes of the western politicians, western media, western academics and their followers in Sri Lanka are those who have dared to challenge the western Judaic Christian civilisation. Prabhakaran who has not been a threat to the western civilisation is not a war criminal though his track record is not that of an upasaka. Prabhakaran canot be a war criminal in the eyes of the westerners as he is only threatning the Sinhala Buddhist culture in the country. The west not only does not oppose him but in the first instance would like him to succeed and establish a confederation.
In Sri Lanka the LTTE was banned after the bombing of the Dalada Maligawa. It is true that it does not follow that lifting the proscription could be interpreted as a justification of the bombing. But then can the LTTE be allowed to get away with this dastard act? If the IRA bombs the Westminster Abbey what would be the reaction of the British government, their media and the so-called experts In any case, between the bombing of the Dalada Maligawa and now what has Prabhakaran done in order that the ban should be lifted? Is it his decleration of a ceasefire? Most of the Sinhalas know that these declerations are confined to paper and that Prabhakaran is only playing for time.
Instead of lifting the ban the government should keep on telling the world what a fascist murderer Prabhakaran is. At the same time it should enter into agreements with mainly the non western countries to combat terrorism. The recent agreement with Russia is a step taken in the correct direction. The western Christian countries that created, baptised and nourished Tamil racism in the country have vested interests and it is unlikely that they would help the Sri Lankan government to crush the LTTE. In any event, with help from the non western countries the government should continue with the operations against the LTTE without bowing down to the western powers. Tigers are tigers and one should not expect them to change their spots. We should not allow ourselves to be fooled by the western plastic surgery that is being used to erase the spots and present Prabhakaran as a humane person.
