FROM CULVERTS TO EELAM
The so called second session of the first round of talks in Thailand was a victory for the LTTE, the Norwegians and the British and the Americans who are behind them. Last week a reader had questioned as to why some, including me, bash the Brits when they should be criticising the government for capitulating to the LTTE. This question implies that among others I have not criticised enough the Sri Lankan governments for its failures but instead, have been very critical of the British. This is wrong as I have been critical of the previous government as well as the new. However, I have tried to analyse the problem and have come to the conclusion that the problem did not start in the fifties as stated by many including Mr. Wills in his capacity as the American ambassador. Mr. Wills had said " We also are for Tamil rights; the Tamil people must be treated equally, respectfully and with dignity within a democratic Sri Lankan state whose exact political form, should be determined by the people of this country. We do not believe Sri Lanka, or any part of it, is the special preserve of any one ethnic group; indeed we regard Sri Lanka as a multi ethnic, multi religious, multi lingual. multi cultural state." (The Island 8th March 2001).
Very nice words indeed. However, Mr. Wills had failed to mention what the Tamil rights are, and whether the Tamils in Sri Lanka are treated in a way worse than the manner in which the blacks are treated in America. At present both the IGP and the Attorney General are Tamils in Sri Lanka. Could the Americans or the British or any white nation claim anything equivalent to that in their countries? Incidentally the blacks in the USA have a history that goes beyond the time that the Dutch brought the Vellalas and the others from South India for the tobacco cultivation. Mr. Wills had also referred to Sri Lanka as a multi lingual, multi cultural, multi ethnic, multi religious state. We should remind the Americans, the British and the Norwegians that we are a better multi cultural state than any one of their countries in a weaker sense of the word. In those countries their national flags, national anthems and other national symbols demonstrate very aggressively the fact that they are Christian countries of various denominations. The official languages of Britain and USA are English while Norway has no regard for any language other than the Norwegian. USA only recently made English THE official language as the American white supremacists felt that Spanish, another language spoken by a white nation, could become a threat to English. The USA is a country committed to Christian expansionism as demonstrated by the speeches of Bush their president. Moreover the dominant culture of these countries is Anglo Saxon Christian or Nordic Lutheran Christian both based on Judaic Christian Chinthanaya. [A pseudo intellectual who has probably read a few books without understanding the essence of what he reads had referred to Judaic Christian Marxist thinking in a recent article. It is clear that he does not understand anything of the concept Chinthanaya. It cannot be translated into English as thinking and there is no Juadaic Christian Marxist Chinthanaya as such. Marxism is only a knowledge system that has been created within Judaic Christian Chinthanaya (or Judaic Greek Christian Chinthanaya to give its full name) and not a Chinthanaya. These pseudo intellectuals who drop names of Philosophers do not understand even the basics of Philosophy and get into a mess when they occasionally try to think. As long as they vomit other peoples' ideas they could pretend to be intellectuals.] Mr. Wills and the other westerners want us to be multi cultural etc., in the stronger sense of the word, when they do not practice multi culturalism even in its weak sense. They are only interested in making the whole world a place dominated by western Christian culture and for that purpose want to suppress the other cultures in the world. In Sri Lanka they want to deny Sinhalthva its rightful place and hence are hell bent on preaching multi culturalism in a stronger sense making all cultures equal without recognising the special cultures that are peculiar to various countries.
I just have one question to be asked from all those who question the "human rights" of the children in various spheres. Has anybody questioned the right of the children or their parents to give an education that is relevant to the particular culture that a child is born or an education of their choice, if I may use one of their choosy little words. Aren't all the children forced to follow the education that is developed by the Americans and the British and the French that is based in a western Christian culture? Who said that the "human rights" are objective and not culture biassed? The "human rights" that are being forced on the whole world are the human rights evolved in the western Christian countries or the white human rights and the people in the other countries do not have the "human right" or the fundamental right to choose their own human rights or the fundamental rights. Those western sociologists and others who talk of the rights of the Buddhist children with respect to what they call ordination should think, if they could think, about more fundamental issues concerning fundamental rights. There are no human rights as such, just as much there is no Science as such. There are only sciences and let the non whites develop their own community rights which they had before the white Christians supremacists came to their countries. The non whites have the burden of educating the whites that there are educations and not Education.
I had to state the above to explain why we criticise the British, the Americans and their messengers the Norwegians with respect to Tamil racism. Having created the problem they now try to force their solution. Tamil racism that was created by the Dutch, was baptised by the British. At present the Americans are very much involved as Norwegians are doing exactly what the Americans want them to do. The UNF government or for that matter even a S. L. F. P. led P. A. or parivasa government with the JVP, to a certain extent, has to do what the westerners ask them to do. The strength of the LTTE is not in the arms they carry nor in their "just" demands. If not for the British and the Americans the government could have defeated the LTTE on many occasions. What is happening today in Sri Lanka is that plans are being made to give an Eelam to LTTE and the other Tamil racists, that they cannot win either militarily or through the parliament. The Eelam is to be given only on the strength of the western Christian supremacy.
The three sub committees to be established as a result of the second session of the first or the Hakeem round of talks in Thailand clearly paves the way for a confederation. There are some SLFPers whose history in the SLFP do not go beyond 1994 (Chandrika Kumaratinga also rejoined the SLFP only in 1992, but at least she could say that she rejoined and not joined) who consider the establishment of the three sub committees as a victory for them. These Trojan horses in the form of former ministers appear to think that as three sub committees instead of the Joint Task Force are to be established, they could now agree with the outcome of the Thailand talks. The sub committees are worse than the Joint Task Force and the SLFP has to be careful of these Trojan horses who are more tuned to the foreign trips organised by the infamous Alert organisation. The former Alert boss is in Sri Lanka trying to woo the Sinhala leaders for his treacherous acts.
The sub committee on political matters would be chaired by Balasingham and Peiris, being the order preferred by the Norwegians. Both are said to have Ph. D. s and nothing more. It is said that the Oxford university having gone through the publications of Peiris when he was a Vice Chancellor, in their wisdom, decided against awarding a L L.D. to him. In any event, they are both doctors and now chairmen. This sub committee would "address the core issues to the conflict" and is a "mechanism to address the political matters on the basis of which a negotiated settlement will be arrived at in due course" according to Peiris. Balasingham who has the backing of the Norwegians and who is effectively the head of the sub committee is more open about it. He has said: " we will be particularly looking at federal and confederal models." Balasingham knows and Peiris being a cabinet minister of the government of Ranil Wickremesinghe, who advocates asymmetrical devolution of power, cannot be ignorant that they would be looking at a confederal model.
A second sub committee would be appointed on de escalation and normalisation. This sub committee would include "high level civilian and military personal on both sides, including Mr. Austin Fernando of the Ministry of Defence and Mr. Karuna of the LTTE". We have said on number of occasions the purpose of the so-called MOU was to equate the GOSL and the LTTE. The ban on the LTTE was lifted to equate the terrorist gang with the army. Through the three sub committees, which the Trojan Horses in the SLFP consider as a victory, it is taken a few steps further. I have no grudge against Austin Fernando who visited the terrorist Balaraj in the Navaloka hospital with apples (it is not known whether he sang "oba apple malak vage lassana sama kale" in Balaraj's room) and who made the high ranking officers in the army rub shoulders with the terrorists, being equated with Karuna, who incidentally has taken an interest in the extension of the services of the major generals. Why Karuna and the others in the UNF-LTTE (should it be LTTE -UNF) outfit were not for the extension of the services of Major General Neil Dias is not known, but the President having turned down that has no choice now other than not extending the services of the relevant major generals, under normal circumstances. However, we live in an "Abuddassa Kale" called the normalisation period open to abnormal events and we could see extensions in the armed services being given according the wish (or karunava) of Karuna. The sub committee that includes Karuna would be looking at "matters relating to high security zones and other areas inaccessible to the public." Is the sub committee going to address matters relating to the bunkers of the LTTE? It is clear that the armed forces would be even called back according to the decisions of the sub committee that will be headed by Karuna for all purposes with Fernando being a mere secretary, high ranking or not.
The third sub committee is on immediate humanitarian and rehabilitation needs. This sub committee is effectively on "development" of the northern and the eastern provinces, while the first two sub committees are on the "political solution" and on the withdrawal of the army. The third sub committee comprises four members each from the GOSL and the LTTE. Thamilselvan would be the head of this sub committee with two secretaries provided by the GOSL. Of course, neither these secretaries nor Peiris the minister would admit that Thamilselvan, Karuna and Balasingham are the heads of the sub committees but the representatives of the GOSL whether they are ministers or (ex)secretaries will have to obey the orders given by the Norwegians who are really the sponsors of Tamil racism. From the day one the LTTE has been getting what it wants through so called negotiations. The GOSL first said they would not lift the ban before the talks but then they had to eat their words in the name of Anglo Saxon peace brokered by the Norwegians. The LTTE is more powerful than the GOSL because the Christian west is behind them.
The first task of the third sub committee is to "assist the Royal Norwegian Government in preparing for a political - level meeting of key governments to take place in Oslo, Norway on 25 November 2002.........The meeting will aim at mobilizing financial support for immediate humanitarian and rehabilitation action in three priority areas agreed by the parties", one of the three areas being "providing livelihoods for war effected people in the North and the East." With the establishment of the three sub committees we would be having a two tired system of administration in the country. The system in the north and the east would be different from that in the rest of the country and this amounts to asymmetrical power structures. Moreover the sub committees are established without going through the parliament thus making a mockery of sovereignty of the people. The establishment of the sub committees could be unconstitutional and illegal. They are given the power to spend money not approved by the parliament.
Peiris (GL the minister and not MDD the ex secretary) would boast that the international community is so pleased - they are pleased undoubtedly at his performance, even a passive performance is a performance - to provide all this money to the GOSL - LTTE outfit but there are questions to be raised as the money would be spent outside the budget allocations without the approval of the parliament. To make matters worse at the Oslo meeting on 25 November GOSL will only be an equal partner of the LTTE. In essence this implies that the LTTE represents the north and the east while GOSL representing the other parts of the country. This would only give more recognition to the LTTE as an equal partner of the GOSL. This arrangement would pave the way for a confederation not by an act of parliament but through recognition by the Christian west. The LTTE is not in a hurry though things are happening fast as what they want is recognition. The UNF - LTTE outfit knows that they cannot muster a two third majority in the parliament and they are only following "recognition leading to a confederation" tactic advocated by the west.
This is part of western colonialism that began five hundred years ago and the parliament, sovereignty of the people have become mere words in the text books in political science and related subjects. The Christian west continues to dominate the affairs of the country and once they recognise first the confederation and then the Eelam we would have an Israel type situation in the country, leading to bloodshed for decades to come. The peace advocated by the west is nothing but Eelam and bloodshed and through construction of culverts in the name of developments they would achieve what they are after. No Sinhala representatives should participate in these sub committees which are worse than the Joint Task Force defying the Trojan Horses and their friends in the infamous Alert organisation.
