TO HELL WITH JOINT MECHANISM
As we have said number of times there is no need for a so called joint mechanism to distribute and handle the so called tsunami aid in the northern and the eastern provinces. If something has to rejected then it has to be rejected, and the question of pleasing the west in any manner should not be in the back of our minds when saying no to their proposals. There are no LTTE controlled areas or uncleared areas in the northern and the eastern provinces. These are terms created by the western media, western intellectuals and propagated by their henchmen in the NGOs and other places. These imitators are good only to teach at western universities both here and abroad, which are institutions created by the catholic chinthanaya in the western medieval feudal Europe that have managed to survive even after the advent of western Christian modernity.
There are a few, yes a few, areas in the northern and the eastern provinces where the LTTE is present. In these areas also any construction work could be done by the Sri Lankan "government". If the LTTE obstructs the "government" in the so called rebuilding exercise let the people of those areas come to know that they have to suffer because of the LTTE. If the LTTE wants to make the lives of the Tamils miserable then it is up to the Tamils in general and those who live in these areas to help the "government" to get rid of the fascist LTTE. When would the Tamils realise that Yarl Devi is not running to Jaffna because of the LTTE and not due to any "discrimination" against the Tamils by the "government".
The "government" does not need the help of the LTTE to carry out any construction work in the tsunami affected areas in the northern and the eastern provinces. The so called joint mechanism, what a name to call this body, who gave this name, was it Solheim, if established would give the LTTE an official status not only in the areas they are present, but in other areas in the two provinces as well. It is the LTTE, and not the Tamils living in the relevant provinces that would benefit by the so called joint mechanism. The only purpose of establishing a "joint mechanism" is to give a license to the LTTE to engage in political and other treacherous activities in the entire region that was marked as the northern and the eastern provinces by the British for their convenience without considering the geographical or historical facts associated with the zone.
The "joint mechanism" is only a stepping stone to the ISGA that Solheim and the other Norwegians wanted sometime ago. The ISGA, if established would have in turn made way for a confederation which would have ended up in an Eelam. The NGO pundits who are paid by Norway and other western Christian countries for their services to the Christian cultural, political and economical colonialism could cry from roof tops that there is no relationship between the "joint mechanism" and Eelam. However, not only the Sinhala Buddhists in general, but even those Tamil Hindus who love this country could see through the plans of the western Christian countries that attempt to give the political power in the northern and eastern provinces to the LTTE which is an organisation backed by the western Christian countries.
While the Karawa Christians among the Sinhalas, with the help of the Karawa Buddhists, were able to realise that they had been favored by the British and that it was no longer possible to demand that they should be favored even after the limited independence we were given in 1948, it is unfortunate that in general, the Tamil Christians and the Karaiwars were unable to come to terms with the new situation. The Tamils had been demanding the favours that were extended to them by the Christian British who used them as a force against the Sinhala Buddhists. Inspired by the Tamil Christians even the Tamil Hindus demanded that the favours should be continued as could be seen by the politics of the Ponnambalam brothers and the other Ponnambalam who used it as his surname contrary to the Tamil custom. However Tamil racism was given a new turn by the Tamil Christian Chelvanayakam who seeing that no favours were possible after the British left demanded a separate state. The LTTE is only continuing with this politics and it has taken more than a few decades for the Tamil Hindus to realise what is happening. The movement against Sanskritization, while not opposing westernisation, by the LTTE and others who are supporters of the LTTE though they may appear to be opposing the LTTE, is only a superficial expression of a deep antagonism towards the Hindu culture in general. Mr. Anandasangaree may appear to be a lone figure but he expresses the general attitude of the Tamil Hindus against the Christian backed LTTE. It is time that there was a dialog between in general the Sinhala Buddhists, Tamil Hindus and others who love this country and who can think outside the western Christian paradigms that have been a bane in our society.
A certain professor in political science, has said that through the "joint mechanism" the LTTE could be defeated politically. It is difficult to understand what this professor in political science means by defeating the LTTE politically. The joint mechanism if established would only strengthen the LTTE not only politically but militarily as well. It gives them the authority to move into the vast areas in which they are not present and engage in political activities. Only a political baby would predict otherwise. It is not surprising that the former Marxists who have become professors in political science have become political babies. Western political science in particular and western social science in general put those professors into a sleep that makes them day dreamers. There is nothing else that these professors who cannot think independently do except day dreaming under the opium of western theories including those of Marxism. I know that I am using a phrase by Marx, but I am not imitating him.
The only way to defeat the LTTE is to defeat them militarily contrary to the opinion of the western Christian advisors and their imitators, and not to recognise them in any manner. The LTTE has no support among the general Tamil population and had to plead to the Sri Lankan Army to protect them from the Karuna faction. If the LTTE has the support of the public they should have been able to destroy the Karuna faction in no time especially with the support that they get from the western Christian countries. The LTTE especially after tsunami is very weak and could be defeated by the Sri Lankan Army. Those communist and samasamjist professors and others forget that their parties supported the governments to defeat the JVP militarily. It is true that the JVP has now joined the so called main stream in politics but we should not forget that it was not through negotiations, joint mechanisms and ISGA s that the party was forced to drop arms. The JVP was described by the old Marxist parties as a CIA agent while the western countries came in support of the government to crush the party. The professors who seem to have short memories, after all most of them cram for the examinations and then forget what they crammed, have different approaches when dealing with the JVP and the LTTE.
There is another school of thought that preaches from the pulpit that we should not displease the west by rejecting the "joint mechanism in toto. These are the friends that one does not want on one's side. They pretend to be anti LTTE but makes compromises that would eventually help the terrorists. If one is not prepared to go against the wish of the western Christian countries one cannot defeat the LTTE. It is as simple as that. If we want to defeat the LTTE then we have to displease the Christian west. In the language of western mathematics it can be said that we can defeat the LTTE if and only if we are prepared to displease the western Christian countries.
If one thinks that one can win over the west by pleasing them then one is mistaken. The west knows what the LTTE is, but in spite of its fascist character they support the terrorists. The LTTE has been violating the MoU between the LTTE and the UNP that Norway drafted, but what has west or the SLMM that is supposed to monitor the implementation of the MoU on behalf of the west has done. The LTTE has been attacking the army camps since about two weeks but the SLMM has not taken any measures to stop them. What would have happened if the army attacked the LTTE on its own or retaliated to the attacks by the LTTE. The whole Christian world including the NGOs in Sri Lanka would have "taken up arms" against the Sri Lankan "government". It is impossible to win the Christian west to the side of the "government" which according to them represent the Sinhala Buddhist masses. To think of Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunga as the representative of the Sinhala Buddhists is the worst insult to the them.
There are others who think that if the "government" does not agree to the establishment of the "joint mechanism" then we would not get any tsunami aid that has been promised by the west. Whether the "government" signs the document on the "joint mechanism" or not we would not get more than ten percent of the tsunami aid that the west has promised. The west is always suspicious of a SLFP led government and even with Ms. Chandrika Kumaratunga at the helm they would like to see the fall of the "sandhanaya" government at the next elections. They know by this time that Ms. Kumaratunga has no political future and it is certain that the promised tsunami aid would not materialise whether the "government" agrees to establish the "joint mechanism" or not. (This does not mean that if there was a UNP "government" the country would have got "tsunami aid". Even with a UNP 'government" we would not have got more than fifteen percent of the promised aid.) It should not be forgotten that Bill Clinton who has a new job to look after the tsunami aid has to be paid for his "services" from the "tsunami fund".
Sri Lanka will not gain anything extra by agreeing to establish the "joint mechanism". On the other hand if the "government" establishes a "joint mechanism" it would pave way for the mush discredited ISGA which in turn would lead to a confederation ending with an Eelam.
