CO CHAIRS AND KO KO FEDERAL
The Co-chairs of the so called aid group which very often gives loans to Sri Lanka at an interest have said that only a federal solution would solve the "ethnic problem" or words to that effect. Not being an intellectual I do not remember exactly what these co chairs and others have to say. I only try to remember the essence of their utterances. This proclamation by the co chairs has come at a most crucial time to Sri Lanka when the country is about to hold a Presidential election. As one of the candidates, namely Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse, has gone back to the original policy of the SLFP, before the party was hijacked by Ms. Kumaratunga with the assistance of the so called aid groups and others of the "international community", the statement by the co chairs amounts to infringement of sovereignty of the country as well as involvement in the election campaign on behalf of Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe.
What the co chairs have essentially told the Sri Lankan voters is that if they want to continue to get "aid" from these Anti Vessantharas (I call them Anti Vessantharas as these people give "aid" to a country with ulterior motives that affect the people of the country unlike king Vessanthara.) then they should vote for Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Anti Vessantharas believe that there is no free lunch, though Vessantharas and Siri Sangabos of the Sinhala Buddhist culture were firm believers of "dana". This itself helps us to understand the differences between the Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya and the Sinhala Buddhist Chinthanaya.
The co chairs have expressed their commitment to fulfill the pledges given in respect of the PTOMS. They have also said that the only solution to the so called ethnic problem is through negotiations and that peace could be achieved through negotiations and that they would revive the "peace process" after the Presidential elections. Now all these are against the agreement between Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse and the JVP, and also that between a section of the Jathika Hela Urumaya and Mr. Rajapakse. Though formally in the case of the latter, the agreement is between the JHU and Mr. Rajapakse, it is clear that the Janatha Mithuro (JM) faction of the party is not in favour of the candidature of Mr. Rajapakse.
There are some political observers who think that the JHU is playing a double game by supporting and at the same time opposing the candidature of Mr. Rajapakse. However, it is not a double game as such but a reflection of the differences between essentially the JM faction and the non Janatha Mithuros in the party. The JM that was formed about thirteen years ago has gone through a process of supporting the PA under Ms. Kumaratunga, in 1992 and 1994, then forming the Thrashtha Virodhi Vyaparaya, and then the Hela Urumaya before they ended up in the JHU. The JMs have used many people and many organisations and political parties since they came into existence, in order to establish themselves, and are not in favour of Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse. The speeches by members of the JM faction within the JHU clearly demonstrate this fact, and it is likely that finally this faction would not support Mr. Rajapakse. However, it is not something that would give Mr. Rajapakse a many sleepless nights as the votes that they
could attract is less than the number of nights between now and the election day.
Coming back to the co chairs of the Anti Vessantharas, though they would like to interfere with the Presidential elections by making statements to the public, they could be assured that except for a few English speaking middle class voters, the others would not take no notice of what they have to say. The Sinhala voters cannot be influenced by these pro UNP, pro LTTE and finally pro western Christian modernity statements as they know that the politics of all these people are to the detriment of the Sri Lankan state. The Sinhala voter cannot be fooled by these statements, and they would simply ignore these much thought out and much paid statements by the IC. Then somebody could ask as to why we are so much interested in these statements that would only take space in the national newspapers.
It is only to expose the IC and the Anti Vessantharas, we deal with their statements. At one stage the Sri Lankan "educated people" were very much concerned with what the IC had to say, though they are not so now. Incidentally IC stands also for the International Committee of the Fourth International of Comrade Trotsky, in which not even Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne seems to be interested these days. Almost all the comrades of Leon Trotsky, except for Mr. Sirithunga Jayasuriya and Mr. Wije Dias who contests the Presidential elections to make an awareness of the class struggle among the "working class" of Asia if not the whole world, are interested in the IC of Anti Vessantharas and not of the Permanent Revolution. Apparently they have come to the conclusion that even the revolution cannot be permanent in this world of impermanence (anicca). However, one does not have to worry about Mr. Dias either, as the international working class, in spite of the labour of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky was never born. The old Professorial comrades from the Medical and Science faculties of the University of Colombo, I am told, are now going to the Church though not on a regular basis. Perhaps they are now more interested in the international of the God than that of Trotsky who was not below the God only twenty five years ago. After all both Marx and Trotsky were Jews, and it was the God of the Jews whom they wanted to oust nominally before they got themselves ousted.
In any event there cannot be much of a difference between the IC of the God of the Jews who went on from being the God of the tribal Jews to the God of the mankind, the IC of Trotsky (Marx and Lenin if we consider the first, second and the third internationals as well) and the IC of the Anti Vessantharas. They all belong to the same tradition, and the cultures and the Chinthanayas in which they were born were not much different. The IC of the Anti Vessantharas belong to the Judaic Christian culture and the Greek Judaic Christian Chinthanaya, while Marx and Trotsky together with Lenin and Mr. Wije Dias belong to the same culture but Judaic Catholic Chinthanaya. All these have one common feature. They want to make their God or Word or Knowledge the Universal and want to impose on the others. Though a Jew is a Jew by birth, as the others are not absorbed into the and tribe, the Jews wanted to give their God to the others. The western Christian modernity wants to impose their culture including knowledge on the others and make a unicultural world, though the others would not be absorbed into the European White tribe, the dominant tribe of the world today. One of the Co chairs of the Anti Vessantharas could be a Japanese but it is not the Japanese who calls the tune when the dance begins. Prof. Kapra who wrote "Turning Point", and once dabbled with Eastern religions and impressed Mr. J. R. Jayawardhane and others, could rest assured that it is not the dance of Shiva that the various ICs are interested in.
One may wonder what all these have to do with the Presidential elections. After all we are conducting a Presidential elections to elect a President in the tradition of the Post British Politics of Europe (and USA). The French Revolution and the USA independence struggle could be called the present day climax of western Christian modernity politics, and Sri Lanka through J R Jayawardhane and A. J. Wilson, respectively a Sinhala and A Tamil born into Christian families, is today burdened with an executive presidency. Tamil Racism is a creation of the Dutch, which was baptised and nurtured by the British who cannot be called Sinhala Buddhist by any stretch of imagination, and the Europe and USA have a solution to be imposed on us. The solution is called a Federal solution, a creation of the west, that would lead to a confederation and finally a separate state. The day a separate state is formed the Hindus would realise their mistake as they would be forced to live in a non Hindu Eelam. The solution incidentally has no problem, and a problem had to be created in order to justify the solution. In fact our problem is the solution that has been formulated, and not the so called problem of discrimination against the Tamils, which was the problem created to justify the solution. I have described the solution and the problem in "An Analysis of Tamil Racism in Sri Lanka". Could any intellectual in Social Sciences or anyone one of the Co chairs of Anti Vessantharas tell me how a Federal Solution with Northern and Eastern Provinces as one separate province or state going to solve the so called problem of more than sixty percent of the Tamil Sri Lankans who live outside those two provinces?
The "International Community" as well as the other ICs of the same culture are interested in imposing their solution on us. They who have no regard for the sovereignty of the other countries, as reflected by the sun's rays, concepts and the theories on limited sovereignty, unmaking of the nation, the "failed state" etc., that their Political Scientists and Sociologists come up couched in their jargon (it is the jargon that matters in Social Sciences as there is not much of substance or ideas) tell us that it is the Federal solution that we have to look for. However we have been looking for (ko koheda) this federal solution as a solution to an imaginary problem, and Sinhala people stick to their eksesath rajya. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse has agreed to go back to the eksesath rajya from the federal solution of the IC, Ms. Kumaratunga and the others, and the Co chairs consider it as an opportune moment to resort to veiled threats to the voter during the election times. They want to tell the voter that there would be no "aid" if Mr. Rajapakse becomes the President and deviates from the federal solution. It is a veiled threat to the voter, the SLFP and finally to Mr. Rajapakse himself. Do we have to bow down to these uncivlised, meaning barbarian according to the Romans, tactics of Co chairs of Anti Vessantharas? I do not think so, but then we have to be independent of their economic and other theories, and also to have spinal cords, in order to keep our heads up in the vertical positions.
