Aba: The need for evaluation

Narada Wickramage’s letter as well as H. Rajapaksha’s response to it once again show the need for a critical aesthetic evaluation of Aba. Both Nalin de Silva and Wimal Weerawanse, while ignoring this basic function have written at length looking at it from their personal angles - personal prejudices. Rajapakshe cannot be blamed for assuming Nalin de Silva’s lengthy convoluted exposition to safeguard the Sinhala paternity of Aba, as praise. Weerawanse thinks it needs to be praised as a measure aimed at salvaging the dying film industry. Narada Wickramage uses it as a peg to hang his personal agenda.

They have missed the woods for the trees. Jackson must be having a hearty laugh.
